The Central Virginia Chapter of ISSA was founded in 2006 and is part of the national Information Systems Security Association (ISSA) (http://www.issa.org). The ISSA has more than 13,000 individual members and more than 100 chapters around the world. ISSA is the largest international, not-for-profit association for information security professionals. It provides educational forums, information resources and peer interaction opportunities to enhance the knowledge, skill and professional growth of its members. ISSA works closely with other industry organizations such as (ISC)2, ASIS, and ISACA. We welcome new members to the Greater Richmond/Central Virginia ISSA Chapter. |
Next Meeting Our next ISSA meeting is September 10th at 8:00 a.m. sharp. Please feel free to join us earlier at 7:30 a.m. for light breakfast fare and to network with other security professionals. The meeting will be held at LandAmerica Financial Group 5600 Cox Road, Glen Allen; you must pre-register for security entrance. The March meeting will be held in the East Building, Atlantic A Conference Room. Please RSVP to Corey Perkins. Mr. Andy Bair, KoreLogic will be our speaker and will be presenting the topic: "Large Scale Search Strategy and Architecture to Support Regulatory Compliance and Incident Response" Organizations face a significant challenge when confronted with the need to search for sensitive data within hundreds of terabyte production systems. The challenges include: "search quickly (external auditors want answers now)"; "search safely (production systems are being searched"; and "search accurately (false positives will slow us down and cast doubts on the results)". During this presentation, Mr Bair will discuss a search strategy and architecture he co-developed to address these challenges. Speaker Biography:
